Some things take time, good coffee, and a clear vision. At a.b.m. produktions, we have spent the last few months working on something that doesn't just touch the usual genre boundaries between Symphonic Metal and Hard Rock but confidently rearranges them.
The result is titled TheTsarinasWake and marks the first sign of life from Cathy's upcoming album Empire of Shadows. So, if you thought Hard Rock sounds and Slavic elegance couldn't be combined with a serious punch, you should listen closely on March 27, 2026.
The project CathysWake is more than just music – it is an acoustic awakening. Even the name Wake plays with an intriguing duality: on one hand, it describes the reverent silence of a vigil, and on the other, the powerful bow wave of a ship carving its path through the frozen ice of the Neva. At the center stands Cathy, whose vocals carry the imperial history of her homeland and the cool, relentless energy of the Baltic Sea.
It’s a bit like fine black lace meeting raw Nordic steel – it looks good, but it can also withstand a heavy storm at sea.
Musically, we opted for a fusion that we like to call High-Intensity internally. There is tribal drumming that hits you straight in the gut, paired with orchestral arrangements that sound as if they’ve gathered resonance in the stone halls of the past for years. Cathy brings a vocal presence that isn't heard every day.
Her sound aesthetics ensure an authenticity that works without exaggerated drama. It is simply well-produced music that knows where it comes from and where it is going.
